anger can be good

duvet dayWednesday 19: Anger gets a rough ride. The BBC2 programme on mental illness mentioned that schizophrenics can be diagnosed by `angry outbursts´. They failed to mention whether those `angry outbursts´ had reasonable justification, as a basis for greater world change, or were Naomi Campbell type self-worth eruptions.

Earlier this month, a friend mentioned that I sounded angry on this post.

I was. And if I regularly pondered the greed and ineptness of those in positions of power, I´d be even angrier - enough to do more than flag it here or sign petitions.

Is it a sign of mental illness to be justifiably irate with those who lead us into illegal wars while professing a belief in God? Who helped, and continue to, run our economy into the ground with the threat of hardship for many to come as they borrow and bankrupt our country now? Who were kicked out of power for abuse not once but several times, yet are allowed back in again - not for the good of the country but for someone´s political expediency?

Well, if it is mental illness to think that kind of behaviour is irresponsible and bad for the harmony of the Great Everything, then I think I am definitely not alone. There is a growing murmur of dissent - and, as one Socialist put it `there is strength in numbers´.

Anyway, surely the real mentally ill are those who blindly follow these charismatic politicians or religious leaders without an ounce of self-awareness?

PS Re no post yesterday: I didn´t think anyone would want to share my dribbly nose. You do? Good, because I am still full of cold today too. The desire to spend the entire day under the duvet was and is however overruled by the work I have still to do.

Later: so John Sergeant doesn´t have the guts to see whether he really would win. Having coerced the public to vote for him week in and week out, now he drops out because he is afraid he will win. Wasn´t that the whole point, John? You cannot manipulate the public like the seasoned political reporter you were and then dump them!

PPS I must check with T re adding video here, so I can boost take up of Received Pronunciation speakers.

busy hoping for earth’s rewards

WIP171108Monday 17: The last time Internet Explorer crashed as much as it is currently doing, Microsoft wanted an uptake on IE7. I presume the same thing applies with IE8, but isn´t it still in beta? I don´t even know how to describe the issue, but it is one I had before and it resolved itself. Eventually.

Still, it didn´t stop me having a reasonably productive day, including writing a mailer re book sales, which I am sending one at a time. Yes, I have mailing software, but as I get displeased with endless spam, I am now opting for the personal touch.. although I may be a bit late with the `redundancy´ positive for a couple, as they got bounced, despite being fine earlier this year.

And C, if you happen to spot this, hope you get well soon. (He works for a major corporate and his auto-responder indicated a health issue.)

I also got in some painting, although I am still not sure about watercolours and the abstract element of spiritual communion. It just doesn´t seem to take on a life of its own, the way acrylics and oils do. But I have not given up on them as yet.

With this corner image (unfinished), forms are beginning to emerge (you might be able to spot them pencilled in) and I will be completing it with glass paint.

Another WIP is very pale and won´t work the same way, but I have another idea for it. And I am waiting for the oil to dry on a further three. Also busy with line drawings for the motivational merchandise - so busy busy. Now for the money to keep pace - ie the stuff coming in!

Re visiting the States: I did a quick check and under the Visa Waiver Programme, I would be allowed in, being able to tick all the right boxes. So the irksome issue is the Gestapo on arrival (`finger-scanning´, digital photographs and questioning) - and having to shut up! It´s bad enough in the UK, with Rosa Klebs pawing us all over in British airports. Yet another off-putting and unwelcome addition to travel these days.

dancing pig stays in

dancing pigSunday 16: The `dancing pig´ (not my nickname for John Sergeant) is still in. Amazing. This is less a dancing competition and more one about mass mind manipulation. Apart from having a face like a hobgoblin, Sergeant comes across as so arrogant.

God alone knows why those silly women talked about `having his babies´. Perhaps they were doing the celeb-hypocrisy thing because they believed he would be out soon. The sad thing, is that keeping him in has killed the show, in my opinion. If every celebrity came on to entertain without actually learning anything, then neither would we (which I had been).

The dancing pig merely stomps across the floor, leaving the glorious Kristina to do all the work. Unimpressed.
