sex for money

my smileTwice in my life, during my young and beautiful days, I was asked to be a `high-class´ call girl. The first guy who suggested it was someone I had worked with at Rank Xerox. He knew people who would pay huge amounts and it would all be very `classy´.

Since he also had a line in porn videos at that time, I took him at his word. And no, I didn´t remotely consider it. Not even for half a nano second.

The second time, the guy was someone I met through business networking, during the last recession. He used to be a millionaire but lost it in those troubled times.

I too was in desperate financial straits but politely turned him down. The thought of physical relations with some would be a no-no even if they were the last man on the planet. Money would be the very last reason for having sex with someone - and that was before my spiritual epiphany.

That is not intended as criticism of those who use their bodies as last resorts. Sad, but understandable.

Meanwhile, how do we define love? The earthly variety, that is. Paying lip service is not love. Anyone can say `I love you´. The proof is in the action. Proactive not reactive. Duty is not love unless it is done without prodding. Meaning to show one cares, that they are in mind. It´s probably too late to change, so I shouldn´t still care. But I do.

when humour is allowed

don't forgetFriday 12: Should our art be enough? Doubtful. Fascination with the person will always play a major part, so it is simplistic of Cliff Richard to expect his private life to go unremarked on. Even more stupid is being evasive as people will always make their own assumptions, so he has only himself to blame for internet chatter and it is rather late in the day to start explaining his sexuality as minds have already been made up.

That said, I have always thought he was a celibate whose whole life was centred round his art…

In these financially fraught times, more sales and commissions are always welcome but I am lucky in that I am not hurting (financially). Just my ego. However, belt-tightening has meant not taking holidays and I am always fascinated to see the people who can seem to afford to fly to warmer climes. But I do feel sorry for all concerned that yet another airline has bitten the dust. When will this cycle end?

Many years ago, I told one of the Nands a joke about the nature of schizophrenia. Trouble is I have forgotten the details and their version is too shaggy dog and not as funny (and neither is my potted version below) - so I tried to find it on the internet. Nothing.

The gist of the joke is: a journalist goes to a mental home and is shown around by someone she thinks is a worker. He is a patient, he tells her. Wondering why such an apparently normal person is there, he tells her there was a mistake and, as he is so charming, she agrees to look into it and help him. Taking her leave, she returns to her car, only to be flattened by a brick. Sitting up, struggling to focus, she hears a voice from above call out `you won´t forget, will you?´

Like I said, the original was much funnier, so if any readers can find it, do please email me or post it in the comments box. Thanks in advance.
