traditions

brick wallThis morning, a Twit labelled me `ignorant“ because I tweeted my dislike of burning an effigy of the Pope.

To me, burning effigies of any soul is a rather repulsive tradition. Burning a symbol of a religion, any religion, is, in my opinion, incitement to hatred at worst and religious intolerance at best, although it“s highly unlikely that any Catholic would issue a fatwa.

Another Twit then tried to justify it as a historical tradition, in commemoration of Protestants being burned at stake. On that basis, then Catholics too would be parading with burning effigies, along with witches and various other poor souls who were burned alive in past centuries.

Two wrongs rarely make a right but endless repetition of negative memories, especially in the name of either fun or tradition, will inevitably lead to bad feeling.

Somehow I think that little bit of empathy went clean over their heads. Or maybe not. It seems anti-Catholic feeling is still strongly felt by some in Lewes.

I do, however, agree with another about symbolic burning - but categorically not of any sentient, however long dead. It is such a short step from burning an effigy to putting a breathing human on the pyre.

Later: officially a crap day. Paperwork, letters, admin - all tedious at the best of time. Arun“s recycling bods missed my bin yet again. And it“s full too, and won“t last two further weeks, although they are normally good about collecting it if I send a prompting email. Lights blowing, changing fuses…

I suppose the actual crapness is down to those wretched hormonal fluctuations that increasing CFs inflict on us. Not eating regularly also exacerbates the anxiety quotient so am now off to have my evening meal and to watch Flash Forward.

questions & concerns

ducksSun 5: Spent virtually the entire day catching up with something that does not usually take up much mind space - conspiracy theories. Of course I have heard of Bilderberg and Illuminati. But the Tavistock Institute? Benjamin Fulford? Orgone? Kurt Sonnenfeld?

A Chinese alternative organisation to the Illuminati? (Must learn Mandarin!)

There is a complete other dimension, here on this Earth dimension, of which I know nothing. Well apart from some internet chatter.

And it all started with knowing very little about the 7/7 bombings.

For someone who normally reads the news voraciously, I am ashamed to admit to being aware of very little beyond there being four attacks, three on the tube and one on a bus near the BMA. However, among many things I find odd, is the coincidence of government training for such an eventuality (as with 9/11), yet so many people dying.

Leaving aside the conspiracy theory that they may actually have perpetrated the disasters, for whatever nefarious reasons, what useless pillocks if indeed they were around!

Looking to verify thought-provoking, though also highly-questionable, videos, like The Ripple Effect, I also discover Nafeez Mossadeq Ahmed“s The London Bombings. Even more undercurrents to torment the paranoid!

It is a spiritual objective to live harmoniously, with all of life being considerate and compassionate at best, allowing for differences with a live and let live philosophical tolerance at worst. Yet it would be simplistic to think that could ever be enjoyed on this Earth plane.

So I could believe our government/s work against our best interests. Or that the security services have, in effect, enabled death and destruction while purporting to look after our security. Somehow I don“t feel that will ever change.

If I have any concerns about this alternative information, it is how every disaster is blamed on the Jews (Israel, Mossad, money men et al). That is as bad as blaming every Moslem for any atrocity or thinking they all are potential suicide bombers.

The internet is awash with claims of one kind or another. Unfortunately, once someone gets a bit Ickian, any relevancies get quickly forgotten amid the guffaws and ridicule. What is it with these people that they cannot just share their concerns without claiming direct descendancy from Jupiter.

Meanwhile, the more I read about Islam (Sufism apart), the less I like the way it treats women. But why can“t the women see that? It is supposed to teach that women should be respected yet Sharia Law will not accept the word of a woman at first hand, unlike that of a man.

I especially really dislike burka/niqabs - and even hijabs are a form of subservience. Personally, I find them threatening, anti-social and a form of self-segregation. (I did say I didn“t like them!?)

And it seems a misinterpretation of the Koran too. Anyway, back to reading more about conspiracies. :*)

self-awareness and trust

corner imageSat 18: Trust is one of those funny paradoxes. Twice in the space of two hours, trust was mentioned. Yet we tend to project on to others our own issues of trust - whether it might be a subconscious desire to do something contentious or perhaps even based on some questionable action done in the past coming back to make one wary of something perceived, rightly or wrongly, in others.

Generally, I take everyone on trust, first off. If trust has been broken, for whatever reason, it does make it that much more difficult. However, being aware of the prickly nature of trust, I opt for total open communication. It makes life easier in the long run.

Self-awareness is the best answer, if anyone asks me. And self-awareness is seeing one“s self as others might see us. Not always palatable.

Religious freaks tend to have a self-awareness bypass linked to an enhanced Pharisaic gene. Bods like Tony Bliar (sic) and Mel Gibson.

The latter has spouted endlessly about his faith, opting for an extreme interpretation of the gospels (His blood be upon us and our children is, according to him and his appalling father, carte blanche for making Jews suffer.)

Yet, when we discover his rather lax personal understanding and attention to his faith, one wonders how he (and Bliar with his murderous crimes) can even mention Jesus in the same breath.

Meanwhile, after three or more weeks with an interim throat problem, I finally bought some anaesthetising lozenges. The mind-body connection is to do with creativity and expression. I can swallow and there is good flow, but it feels tender, slightly swollen. Presumably an infection.

PS Why did I dream about DG (an ex-lover)?

PPS I think I have discovered what those three+ weeks of Microsoft updates were doing… checking out all my software packages to then `offer“ me some notification update tool. It has now stopped daily updating but, every time I switch on, the `offer“ is there to accept.

I don“t.
