Dreamed of

MV008… naked politicians, specifically the new Cabinet, with Vince Cable in front. Even with the dream framed to show only the tops of the bodies, it was not pleasant viewing. I have obviously been spending too much time on politics recently!

Meanwhile, mine closures, as mentioned before, still polarise political emotions. There have been several happy outcomes over the years although I mentioned only one. What do they expect? It“s just a chat forum and I“m not actually writing a thesis, for God“s sake!

Needless to say, I got some unbalanced flack from the usual suspects, so I withdrew.

Anyway, I was pleased that BBC Breakfast this morning had a piece about Newstead and how it“s being turned into a cultural centre with park, space for live gigs and so on. Things can be made better - and it is nothing to do with `positive thinking“ and everything to do with using energy and mind to find and make a way, though I do accept that these things take time, and time can reinforce resentment in some.

There“s a slight ding-dong on one journo list I belong to. A newbie asked for help getting his articles accepted. Unfortunately, when you are a writer, everything you write is an advert for your skills with words. The odd typo or grammatical error is acceptable if previous posts showed attention to detail. Not, however, if you are a newbie on all levels.

I am sure all who read the posts, noticed the blips; I certainly did. But one old-timer did point it out - and, quite gently, for someone who remembers dear old PJ“s articulate blasts.

Unfortunately, the newbie responded without engaging brain, calling the experienced old-timer `arrogant“. Whoops. He has since apologised but we now have a mild Friday fight to look forward to. One posted that the comments were arrogant, adding "Please do not bother to analyse this. This topic is offically closed."

First thing that popped through my mind was a certain `executive decision“. Not a good way for either harmony or compromise.

Which reminds me: on one of the days I was clearing up 4BC, a hammer dropped onto my toe. I“d forgotten that and assumed the discoloured nail was age-related. Now with appropriate nightly massage and application of various unguents, the damaged nail is giving way to a healthy one again.

Decided to sell some jewellery and get that new bathroom. It“ll only be a simple white one with `the most popular“ tiles. Might as well make a future house sale slightly easier. Next time I buy a house, I“ll make sure the budget can handle a new bathroom as well.

Art is informed by the life we lead, by our thoughts, experiences and desires. My blog posts are either streams of consciousness, wrestling with spiritual concepts or other experiences on this particular spiritual journey. reality and illusion pt 3003

therapy1109To dream of urinating is often as good a sign as dreaming of excrement. Probably less amusing to leap out of bed realising you are about to use your bed as the potty.

In the dream, I had been in a very exclusive, very small, restaurant, somewhere off Kensington High Street. The people who I was waiting for had said it was "Kate Moss“s favourite" - but, even in the dream, I was asking myself why I would agree to eat somewhere on that particular recommendation.

I was sitting in a room at the back, at a very large circular table, when the restaurant owner brought a glass of wine I had ordered. He suggested sitting in the front, in an L-shaped room rather resembling a tiny Italian cafe in London. I had forgotten about my drink, which a waiter then brought out and gave to another woman who was with another female companion - both at least middle-aged, but looking older. They had just walked in off the street, after a hard day sight-seeing and rubber-necking. Tiny though the restaurant was, it was empty. Some exclusive!

The woman proceeded to ooh and ah over it.. "Delicious, it“s been so long since I drank anything like this. I thought I had ordered Ribena." … And more of the same, eyes closed, breathing deeply, sipping extravagantly.

The owner then asked me if I would like a drink. I explained that I had ordered one but had left it in the back room. Penny dropped. He went over to the dramatic female and took the glass to give back to me. Replying `You must be joking! After that performance?“ I got up to leave as my companions still had not arrived.

On the way out, up Kensington Church Street, I met an older white man, in extremely good shape, moneyed, who seemed to be floating down the middle of the road. He said he was my brother, that we had different mothers. I got in a car with him, and a little later told him I had to go for a pee. ….

There is one school of thought that, in this instance, it could have sexual connotations, especially as we were both in the same car… but a brother? Eurgh. No thanks. I prefer to think of it as spiritual brothers and sisters.

Later: finally ploughed through some research on IQ and intelligence. The author posited that the religious-minded have lesser IQs. It was utterly tedious reading on the one hand and depressing on the other.

Atheists posters seem to be unfailingly rude with `chimpanzee-brain“ style retorts, while it seems only Christians respond - quoting the Bible often a tad too literally.

(Highly tempted to make funny comment about how one other religion might respond, but am slapping my knuckles and avoiding temptation instead.)

Later still (actually now the 11th): Far too much information in one file is making it difficult to work out what needs to be drawn, so there are now 8, which are roughly topic-related. If I do this properly, there should be several graphic books from it, though the cartoons will have to be simpler than originally planned.

Popped out to Worthing and pleasantly surprised that there is now an H&M, and even McDonalds has had a makeover.

just another day

particlesFri 30: Out like a light at 9pm last night. Slept 10 hours. Must have needed the rest. Not that I did more today than normal. Mark you, my slumber was not totally uninterrupted. I was startled awake at 02:45hrs but don“t know why. Then I dreamed I was escaping from a research hospital with Robert de Niro as the evil doctor trying to kill me. I awoke still standing on a window ledge, flattened against the wall, as de Niro peered out the window in truly horror-movie stylee.

Apart from far too many interruptions from cold callers banging on the door, I contacted the trade marks people re Wise El, St Raphael“s Convent re something important, Linda Meaney re oil tuition in January - and finished my Christmas card, but still have not sent off my art mailer.

Meanwhile, the way people manage their money - or, worse, OUR money - never fails to astonish me.

So many people on benefits can afford to run cars, take holidays, have the latest gadgets, eat out regularly (admittedly, mostly junk food, from what I can observe) and watch the latest films. Astonishing. In the last recession, I sold all sorts of things just to eat.

Then there are people like Koo Stark, allegedly facing bankruptcy, who can afford cleaners and someone to iron her clothes. Double astonishing.

Off to watch Shaun of the Dead. Actually, it“s already started so that should make it about the umpteenth time I have not really watched it.

PS Not quite just another day. There have been a few times over the last few days when I felt my life flashing by. At least, waking this morning, that feeling was more of lacking purpose, which is far easier (for me) to remedy. I find something to do, even if my actual goals are shrouded in mist.

PPS It is deeply annoying, taking time and energy out to send guiding words to people, along with requested items, and not even get an acknowledgement, let alone a thank you. Tch. Double tch.
