Fri 17: Estate issues are still causing problems. Trust and high-handedness do not make comfortable bedfellows. Indeed, it was because of the potential for bad feeling that I always put everything in writing, and told all what I was doing and what I did so there was no confusion.
The same code of conduct is not happening now. There has been no further word on the items removed in March or April (are we just supposed to forget they have been taken?) and now there are misunderstandings about the MO for Ma´s estate.
It does not help that RBOS seems to have cocked up somewhere along the line. When the account was originally set up for Dad´s estate, we had to provide ID, signatures, addresses - and visit in person - which we all did, individually.
In addition, and in order to safeguard us all from any misunderstandings, we specifically stated that no money could be removed without the written authority of all three of us.
Now a RBOS bank assistant tells one that they can take money out without authorisation of all! What if we did not give it? And they have lost their account details and signature - which makes it all the more bizarre that they can be allowed to remove funds!
At the risk of creating more disharmony, I `phoned RBOS and asked them to stop that happening. If some idiot bank teller does let money out, I said I would sue them as that is not what I have in writing from them in 2002.
As it happens, darling Ma did not leave much, and her desire to be generous in death as in life will not spread far. But better to list all first and then create a letter of authority that we all agree to first.
Most people want to be trusted and to be seen as trustworthy. But how do they earn it?
In my book, it is by being proactive with information. It is by providing any information requested, not ignoring those requests or being selective or piecemeal.
No, I am not happy. Not happy at all. The RBOS QSM has a suitably bent ear to prove it.
